ALP Enrichment trips

November 2023

At ALP England, we believe that forays out into the local community and further afield are vitally important.

They expand our students’ horizons, build their confidence levels, and give them opportunities to practice the social skills they learn in our centres.

We aim to provide a range of trips outside of the unit; some directly related to students’ learning in the construction industry, some which encourage them to interact with people that they usually would not, and some to challenge their concerns about being independent in the community. All trips are designed to be fun and important educational experiences for our learners.

We have taken students to the NEC for National Construction week, and we have been to the National Self Build & Renovation Centre, where they can explore the various areas independently without intrusive staff supervision.

We regularly take them out to restaurants, where students are expected to order their own food and interact with staff.

We take them to see Bristol landmarks such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge and to Bristol City Centre, to expand their understanding of the local culture of the city in which they live.

We also take students further afield and have explored Weston Super Mare beach and pier, including a trip to last years ‘See Monster’ installation. We like to do active reward trips and have enjoyed crazy golf, football golf, frisbee golf and the driving range, as well as taking students ice skating, trampolining and to Zaza Bazaar for their Christmas lunch.
